The Professional Competencies Development and Training Programs for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Workshop and the Qatar’s Annual Autism Symposium are important events in Qatar's efforts to enhance the services provided to ASD individuals, in conjunction with World Autism Day.
The workshop aims to enhance the skills and expertise of health, education and social workers being the main link in services provided to people with ASD according to the latest training programs worldwide and in collaboration with the World Health Organization.
The Qatar’s Annual Autism Symposium also seeks to contribute to achieving the goals of the National Autism Plan by raising awareness of parents and enabling them to reach out to experts from different countries and communities to obtain the latest and reliable information related to the treatment services and programs dedicated to ASD individuals in Qatar.
We hope that the workshop and symposium will contribute to realizing the desired goals and to make the best possible use of the training programs dedicated to supporting the services provided to people with ASD.

People with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are one of the priority groups that receives the care and attention of the health sector in Qatar, given the importance of providing specialized and Qatar advanced services to this precious group.
The health sector in Qatar is keen to keep pace with the world’s latest developments in the field of ASD services, therefore came the launch of the National Autism Plan, conducting specialized studies on the prevalence of ASD in Qatar, in addition to other consolidated efforts with aim to integrate persons with ASD into society.
The Professional Competencies Development and Training Programs for ASD Workshop and Qatar’s Annual Autism Symposium coincide with World Autism Day to emphasize the importance of continuing to focus on developing the skills and expertise of ASD service providers in accordance with the latest developments in this field and promoting family participation in the development and construction of the individual educational program for ASD children and adults.
I am certain that the recommendations that will come out of the workshop and symposium will enhance efforts to ease the burden on people with ASD and their families.
